Comfy Pants with an Edge

Lately I've been on a pinterest tear. I'm trying to rein in the online shopping, so pinning anything and everything appealing seems to be a good alternative. Looking back at everything I've pinned I've definitely got it bad for leather right now. Especially leather track pants! I've found them at all price points. I think I may have to order the Forever 21 pair and see if they work (can't beat that price!), but if money were not object this Sonia Rykiel pair would be in my closet right now (can't get over that color... perfection!). What do you think about leather track pants?

Book Review

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1591845807/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=159184

As a discount shopper and bargain hunter I couldn't resist this book when I saw it on Amazon. I typically check out my books from the library (its free!! and cuts down on clutter), but lately I've been purchasing some books to read on my ipad via the kindle app. Based on the title of the book, I thought it was going to be "how to" guide with lots of amazing bargain hunting tips. Not so much, but I loved the book.

Overall the book jumps around a good bit, I can see where this would be annoying to some readers but it kept me entertained. It is more of an overall look at the shopping landscape in its current state with historical information to explain how we have gotten to where we are today. I love history, so I very much enjoyed this aspect of the book. Scientific studies and psychology behind shopping are also sprinkled throughout the book.

I thought the writing was light and enjoyed the pop culture references that the author sprinkles through out the text. If you are interested in shopping, history, pop culture, cultural trends and psychology this is a book for you. If you're look for a guide on how to save on your next trip to the mall you can probably pass on this book.

If you read this let me know your thoughts!

Lusting After...

Typical Memphis, this past weekend was quite chilly even though later this week it will be backup in the 80's. Saturday I had a couple of outdoor events to attend, and when I checked the weather report it was finally time to bust out a couple of amazing thrift finds I came across this summer! I was having so much fun at the parties I forgot to take pictures of my outfits, but I hope to recreate them and post soon. I wore distressed jeans and the booties I blogged about last week with a white blouse. For the afternoon party I added a faux fur vest, and then for the night party I swapped out the vest for a vintage fur jacket I've been dying to wear since I found it in August. I got so many compliments on the jacket! Since I don't have any pictures to share just yet, I thought I would share a few inspirational fur pieces. While I can't afford these right now, I will keep treasure huntin hoping to score some other beauties. I hope everyone has a great week!

Take it for a spin!

If you are not using Cartwheel yet you are missing out!! Not sure what Cartwheel is, its a new app for your phone that save you money at Target. I always joke with my friends that Target has the most expensive cover charge in town because I cannot get out of that store for under $50. Go in for something mundane like Ziploc bags and the next thing I know, I've got a scarf, dress, booties, a few bags of candy, home décor, cleaning supplies, etc., etc., etc... You name it, it ends up in my cart! And don't even get my started on Target's dollar aisle!

The great thing about this new app, is you can customize the offers to what you are interested in on any particular trip. For quite a while I have been eyeing the Rag & Bone booties seen on celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, but the $495 price tag just isn't in my budget.

Several weeks ago I saw these similar booties at Target for only $34.99, a reasonable price but I knew I could do better. I waited until they went on sale for $29.99 and checked my Cartwheel app where I saw an offer for 20% off all boots! This brought my total down to $23.99. That's less than 1/20th of the inspiration pair!

Let me know what you save on using the Cartwheel app!!

**I was in no way compensated by Target to write this post or endorse this app, I just love it and want to share it with you

Welcome!

Hi, I’m Irwin and if you follow me on instagram @IrwinEsq you know I love to bargain shop. I’ve started this blog to share some of my tips and tricks after receiving several questions from followers. I also plan to document my personal style, inspiration and things that make me happy.  I would love your suggestion s/ comments on ideas or content that interests you.

So a little bit about me, I am a lifelong Memphis girl and I love all my city has to offer. These days I spend a good bit of time across the mighty Mississippi in the great state of Arkansas, and I love find new spots over there as well as in my hometown.

I’ve loved fashion since I can remember, I think it’s in my blood as my mom worked in fashion before she had children and became a stay at home mom. Along with my love of fashion and shopping I love find bargains.  It’s amazing all the bargains you can find when you just start looking. In keeping with my love of fashion, I love style, design and art. I majored in Art History in college. While I don’t consider myself an artist, I do love creating things. Lately, I have satisfied my creative urges making jewelry.

When you look good and you’re happy with the space surrounding you, you feel good. I hope this blog can be a happy place and creative outlet. Thanks for stopping by and I can’t wait to hear from you!
