As a discount shopper and bargain hunter I couldn't resist this book when I saw it on Amazon. I typically check out my books from the library (its free!! and cuts down on clutter), but lately I've been purchasing some books to read on my ipad via the kindle app. Based on the title of the book, I thought it was going to be "how to" guide with lots of amazing bargain hunting tips. Not so much, but I loved the book.

Overall the book jumps around a good bit, I can see where this would be annoying to some readers but it kept me entertained. It is more of an overall look at the shopping landscape in its current state with historical information to explain how we have gotten to where we are today. I love history, so I very much enjoyed this aspect of the book. Scientific studies and psychology behind shopping are also sprinkled throughout the book.

I thought the writing was light and enjoyed the pop culture references that the author sprinkles through out the text. If you are interested in shopping, history, pop culture, cultural trends and psychology this is a book for you. If you're look for a guide on how to save on your next trip to the mall you can probably pass on this book.

If you read this let me know your thoughts!
